Yesterday, we had a real treat. We went to Mario's Place in Riverside for a luncheon and jazz afternoon. The featured artist was Kevyn Lettau and she was outstanding - but first lets start with the luncheon. Each table was set with a beautiful red rose that had a fragrance to die for. There was a set menu with a choice of two starters - we both had the Yellow Gazpacho Soup - and a choice of three main dishes - both me and him chose the Spicy Breast of Chicken with Baby Artichoke Caponata & Lemon Zest Jus - which was superb. And for desert we had Tulipe of Orange Flower Water Gelato with Fresh Strawberries. All very yummmmmm!
The show started at 3:00p.m. and from the very first song, we knew that Kevyn Lettau was GOOD. She can scat as well as any - including Ella! She did some fabulous renditions of some wonderful tunes including No More Blues by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Have a Talk with God by Stevie Wonder. The trio who accompanied her were fabulous - especially the chap on the keyboard who was lost in his music!
The show ended at 5:00p.m. and I was sorry when it was over. If you love jazz and ever get the chance to see Kevyn Lettau - don't pass it up. She is super. http://www.kevynlettau.com/
For those of you who are keeping tabs - before we went to the show, we washed both cars, did all the ironing and watered the garden! Ain't we good? Today is chemo day and I am hoping all goes well with his Lordship.
